What you Need to do After Getting a DTV or Tourist Visa
After obtaining a Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) or another type of Thai tourist visa, we should review what notifications the foreign national is required to make to the relevant authorities.
In particular, we need to understand the TM.30 and TM.47 requirements, including how they differ, who is responsible for making each notification, when the notification must be made, and what supporting documents are required.
The key distinction is that TM.30 concerns notification of a foreigner’s place of residence, whereas TM.47 concerns the foreigner’s 90-day reporting obligation when staying in Thailand for more than 90 consecutive days.
A. TM30 Notification: It is Notification of Accommodation for Foreigners (for Businesses).
Under Section 38 of the Immigration Act B.E. 2522, the property owner, landlord, hotel, or person responsible for the accommodation must submit a TM30 notification within 24 hours after a foreign national arrives at the residence. This is a legal reporting requirement in Thailand. In practice many foreign nationals choose to ensure that the TM30 has been properly filed themselves. This helps avoid potential issues during immigration inspections or future immigration procedures, as the absence of a valid TM30 record may result in delays or a fine in certain circumstances.
Please note that the TM30 notification is an important requirement for all foreign nationals staying in Thailand, regardless of the type of visa they hold. We understand that you may already be familiar with this requirement. However, we would like to mention it again to ensure that the necessary immigration obligations are clearly understood and properly complied with.
The Methods to submit TM30 Notification
In cases where the applicant is located in a province outside of Bangkok, the notification should be made at the Provincial Immigration Office in the area responsible for processing the notification of residence of foreigners under Section 38. The Immigration Bureau has established formats and methods of service for applicants to choose the most appropriate method for processing as follows:
Submit the documents in person, or authorize someone else to submit them; or
Submit via registered mail; or

Please complete all sections of Section 2 of TM.30, using the alien's passport as a reference, as details provided by the alien before arrival are often inaccurate. The form should be typed or handwritten; if handwritten, use block lettering. The following points should be noted:
Leave clear spaces between first name, middle name, and last name.
Include any letters before or after the numbers in the passport number.
In the Arrival Card number field, enter the arrival card number (TM.6) attached to the passport.
